  • I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but does anyone have any advice (or links to good advice) on shooting video with a DSLR?

I've been wondering about having a play with my D7000 but especially the focus is bugging me - either I have to have it on continual focus and it hunts the whole time (noisy and annoying to watch) or I use manual focus which I'm incapable of using with any skill!

Also, I have no idea about the extent to which playing with aperture can induce artistic shots with shallow DoF and how one controlls the amount of light on the sensor etc.

In short I'm a complete novice to the world of video and while I'm obviously aware that the D7000 may be a poor tool for the job in relation to a dedicated video camera, it's also what I've got.

I'd like to have a play, but I'm yet to record anything even vaguely worthwhile!
