  • If you're looking for a horse, it's ok if you end up with a brown one or a black one. But if you're looking for a white horse, a brown one or a black one is no good.

    If you say a white horse is the same as a horse you're saying you were looking for the same thing both times. If you were looking for the same thing both times, there's no difference between a horse and a white horse, and if there's no difference between what you were looking for, how come a brown horse or a black horse is all right one time and no good the other? All right and no good are clearly opposites.

    So brown and black horses are the same because you can say you've got a horse, but you can't say you've got a white horse. And so a white horse isn't a horse, obvs.
