  • ^ Very interesting - both look homemade to me...
The bottom one looks to be inspired by Eastern Block Pursuit Bikes....
    e.g. Takhion & Favorit

  • are they not 7600 small flange?

Based on that catalog pic I think they are.
I havent ever see or heard that HB-7600 was made also in low flange.

  • I may be able to help... I got introduced to Graham this morning! As well as building his own frames he worked for Thorn tandems for many years. Not that this is a huge amount of help, but I wouldn't mind betting he'd be able to tell you all you needed to know about a particular frame... I am of course well aware that your original post is from some time ago, so this may be of no use whatsoever! :)

  • what cranks are these, please?
it looks like the arms aren't fluted.

  • ^ Not entirely sure... first thought was Gipiemme Pista

You know you campag pista better than I do, so I'm guessing they're not super-record unfluted.....?

  • the unfluted campag cranks that i've seen have all got fluted spiders, but maybe there's something i'm missing?
i also can't find a picture of any gipiemme pistas without fluted arms.

there is a kind of line running down the middle that might be a gipiemme logo though... maybe the flutes are just hard to see.

    any other ideas?

  • The reason I went for Gipiemme was the vertical feature which is a bit like a gipiemme logo.
a similar feature crops up on Ofmega super competizione....

I don't know if there was a super competizione pista, but it may just be a 1/8" ring on the strada crank...

I'm pretty sure it's italian - not least as it's on a Bianchi.
Other possibilities include Galli and (although not italian) Zeus.

  • Solved
When I googled "ofmega super competizione" to see if such things existed, that exact biek came up....
    http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/1985-bianchi-pista-3764
and in the spec it say

    Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
    Ofmega Super Competizione / Ofmega

  • Can anyone identify these forks?

They look like old kinesis aero wedge forks - i had some without stickers that looked just like those.

  • ^^Nice one Rik, cheers!

  • Ah awesome! Love the shape.

  • Does anyone know what model of Pinarello this is?

I have emailed Pinarello saying this:
The tubing is Columbus Aelle, the frame is stamped Pinarello 58 1M958 on the bottom bracket shell.
    They replied this:
We can confirm that your frame is an original Pinarello produce almost from 1976/77 to 1985 but the material mounted on the bike is not produced in the same period.

However, there is faint leftovers of a sticker on the downtube that say 1988 Olympic & Tour de France Champion. Therefore it must be 1988 1989 1990 ish. The bike has not been repainted.

My money is on a Pinarello Veneto 1988 but I would like confirmation

    Thanks

    Vince

  • thanks Rik. This kind of fork/handlebar is quite unusual. I'll tell if i get more infos

  • Hi guys
I picked up this frame today but it has no markings or serial numbers on it, any clues who made it? Its very light

  • Australian, I'd hazard a guess.....

    Sorry, not helping much.

  • Anybody have any ideas what this is? Couldn't find any serial numbers.

  • ^That top tube paint job shouts concorde to me, although I'm no expert

  • ^That top tube paint job shouts concorde to me, although I'm no expert

Could be! There is a list of it's features in my thread.

  • Anyone have any ideas about this? It has Raleigh decals but I'm dubious. Couldn't find any serial numbers :S

Also it has a square plate on the seat stays instead of the normal brace

  • It does look like a Raleigh.... Possibly one of the lower end tourers, as it has the bracket for racks etc, plus mudguard eyes...nova? I'm guessing though

  • Anyone?

  • Don't know a huge amount about steel pinarello's but I think the Treviso was also made from Aelle.... May be worth considering.
Probably worth searching Flickr too, see if you can find a paint-job match, most are blue-white-blue fades rather than the white-blue-white!

It's fillet brazed and quite old if that's a grease nipple on the BB shell. I'd guess therefore it's a Claud Butler. What to the dropouts look like?

  • i have picked up a Dave Russell TT frame. it has mech hanger and track drop-outs. its a really beautiful frame. i feel its nicer than 531, but have no way of knowing...... how can i find out this information? who should i contact?
