Is it time to start calling out bad cyclists?

I ignore 99.9% of the time. And just roll on. It really is not in my nature.

Just this morning I cracked.. No more. No less. I'm not perfect and never will be. If I see the guy again I'll apologise.. It was, of course, wrong. Very wrong.

You were in the right.

If he had not said anything to you and got on with his ride then he wouldnt have taken a kidney shot and you wouldnt be feeling bad for your actions.
