Filters and black and white photography. Do people on here use them? Any preferences?
Yellow almost as a matter of course.
Orange where architecture is involved.
Red if I want more contrast than common sense indicates.
Polarizing with any of the above - usually to deal with obvious reflections, sometimes just for the hell of it.
I understand most filter effects can be reproduced using a negative scanner and Photoshop or equivalent, but I can never get it quite the same as filtering 'for real', and more often than not, I use an enlarger for printing...
Needless to say I'm doing it for fun rather than as part of work...
