  • Hey there Arup.
Have you got anymore classes coming up in the next few weeks by any chance?
Have wanted to learn wheel building for ages and am now in need of a new set, so two birds and one stone!
And as I'm gonna probably use this in the future too, it seems like a good idea.

  • Next one is on March 25th. Usual time - Sunday 3.00 - 7.00. You can book up on the classes page.

  • Damn, I'm not gonna have enough money for the components by then.

How often do you do these classes?

  • I'm planning on doing them once a month but if you want a one-to-one session then you can book your session any time that suits.

  • Sweet, will check you out when I have worked out what parts to buy and when I've got the funds.

  • OK everyone, the next planned group session is on the 27th of May. That's more than 2 weeks to get your bits together. Any questions, please ask. Check back through this thread for more details and have a look at the site.

  • Next lesson date is now up - 24th of June. Again Sunday, 3-7. Look back over this thread for more info. I'm also now offering the opportunity to just learn the skills using old parts so you won't need to bring anything.

  • Two confirmed booking for the 24th so two places left.

  • Date for the next wheel building class is now up. Change to the previous format. Now it's a full day so there will be plenty of time to complete both wheels and have them checked. There will also be time to answer questions and look at spoke length calculations.

    Saturday 27th October - 10.00 till 17.00

  • Blimey, two people have booked in already. Which means two places left.

  • Next date for a full day's wheel building class is up. 24/11/12 which is a Saturday.

  • Good work, I wish I could build wheels.

  • I know i'm posting this quite a bit out of date but i just want to big Arup up for truing two old wheels of mine (wolber rims, exage hubs). Did a great job and was really cheap. Exans did not want to know and my local shop charges £18/wheel so i was made up. Lovely bloke too.

  • Nice one. Thanks mate. I was going to ask: is that £18 for truing a wheel?

It has been a while but the date for the next wheel building class is up - 27/04/2013. From 10.00 - 17.00 and costs £95 for the day. You get your own set of tools to work with i.e. truing stand and nipple driver etc. You can find more details on my site.

I can help with spoke calculations prior to the class.

  • Slight change to the above class. It will now be on the Sunday rather than the Saturday. So 28/04/13. One booking so far which means there are three places left.

  • Had a nice class yesterday and the next one is on Sunday 26th May. One booking already so three places left. Cheers everyone.

  • Going to cancel the proposed wheel building class on the 26th of May as I'm going to be audaxing. Probably the same in June.
