Your choices for disc brake nearrow it down considerably. These are 2 frames that comes to mind:

http://www.competitivecyclist.com/frame/2012-civilian-bicycle-co--le-roi-le-veut--10923.htmlIf the disc brake is out of the question any horizontal or diagonal dropout frame with an OLD of 130/135mm will do.

The alfine doesnt require any special frame details. Obviously you need 135mm rear spacing, and disc tabs. But that list is somewhat long.

This is not a complete list of 135mm spaced, disc tabed frames.
Even if you dont want a tensioner, I'm guessing the list is in its hundreds.

When is the Di2 Alfine going to be available.. with belts and discs and other wonderous tech?
-
• #6
It can/will fit a 130mm rear OLN, either with a bit of brute force and ignorance, or there is a guide somewhere where you can swap one of the washers out to reduce the width needed to 130 proper.
In an ideal world, the rear cable stop needs to be reversed (if you're looking at building up a frame) as a 'regular' gear setup goes shifter(bare cable)>cablestop>covered cable loop into the rear mech, though the Alfline takes bare cable (so if you have your shifter cable covered, it'll need a stop to 'uncover' it)
I think.

Sorry, but that^ doesnt sound right at all.

Belt sprockets will be the same as for standard alfine.
Personally I'd like an electric NuVinci. The continous gearing is brilliant. But the dual cable actuation is tricky to get perfect.

I picked up a an 8 speed Alfine wheelset the other day because I thought it was pretty cheap. I estimated the cost of building it up into a bike and things started to a bit pricey.
Can anybody help me out by letting me know of any frames which would accommodate and Alfine hub and disk brakes? This way I can keep an eye on eBay etc and hopefully save a bit of money.
It would help if you narrowed things a lot.
Mountain bike, shopper, cyclocross, tourer, 29er, fatbike, folder, roadbike, cargobike............?

Nah, how are you supposed to make car/moto noises when you drop down through the gears? Continuous would take all the fun out of it.

Is this not a standard bit?
Genuine question. I dont own an alfine.

Yeah but the continous twist shift feels more like a motorbike accelerator.

The seatstay routing admittedly being a touch out of the ordinary. But it shows the stop better.

You could be right - I think that black add on thingy (that replicates the cable stop) is very common but not used in all applications. (I only know as I've got an Alfine frame being made for me)

Fair enough.
I just thought they were 'plug and play'.

I wish....
So basically and frame with diskounts is okay as long as I don't mind using a tensioner. I think probably the cheapest option will to get a pompetamine, but as I already have a pompino it seems a bit daft to build up too very similar bikes...
The black bit is part of the fitting kit which is on special at on-one at the minute.

Any geared bicycle will be fine, Alfine also have their own chain tensioner too, so you don't need to limited yourself to bicycle with track end.
vertical drop out make it a lots easier IMHO.

why alot easier? any recommendations for a disk compatible frame then,i'd prefer something steel.

What sort of bike?
If you're after a MTB. A dialled love/hate would be a nice starting point.

after more of a commuting bike, maybe with the option some touring when I can afford either a barend or sti style shifter.
