I'm all for paying for extra performance. In terms of shifting though, I'd spend more on the shifters & cassette. X9 rear mech is only 14 grams heavier than X0 at less than half the price. Difficult to tell with the best shifters, let alone bar end type.
Still...... I suppose X0 is shinier :-)
TBH I take so long to build a bike that I tend to get whatever is on the best offer over a 12 month period. My XO mech was at least half price. Had actually planned on a X9. The XTR cassette with chain was a bargin too. The best bit of all was finding a single tt900, rear mech, shifter, NIB, for sale on EBay. As you can imagine, not that many folk are in the market for single TT shifters. So that was bargin No 1
