What fantastic day all round and what a lovely lot of people. The weather was nigh-on perfect and major props to those that cycle 70-odd miles and then ran 10k. Here's a link to my not very good photos:

^ ha! glad you liked them, shame they weren't encapsulated properly rather than my kids' left over book-covering film.
By the way, I'll have to venture into town/SE some time and get my drain rods off you. Too busy at the mo though

Good call Gov'nor. Safely stored in my garage, unlike mine, which are languishing in Oxford until the end of term. Give a call when you need them, as no bother to scoot them into the centre of town.

What an excellent result everyone, and more pictures to follow, when Hats is safely back from China.

Can you believe it’s been three months since the chimney sweeps descended on the city of dreaming spires?
The JustGiving page has now closed, and I’m really pleased to say that we raised £2,359.55... plus an additional £520.89 in Gift Aid – meaning that in total we raised £2,880.44 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
Absolutely amazing, and it’ll make a huge difference to the work the charity are able to do. Well done sweeps!!
At some point I will upload more photos from the day (neverending problems with the internet at home and at work). It was a great day with lots of soot, bonnets and port – and raising such a huge amount for charity just makes the day even more special, I reckon.
Chim-chim-cheroo!

What is it about charities and fundraising that causes such strong emotions?
Is it that supporters are so insistent of the merit of their cause, or that the claims on our money are becoming ever more constant. Surely, supporting the fight against disease and injustice, is something that we should leave to governments, and our elected officials.
But then again, maybe the humility demanded of asking someone for money, and support, in these self obsessed times, has its own merit. A bit of servitude, the risk of rejection, the act of doing something for others, where we have nothing to gain, may add to the richness and validity of our lives.
These may have been the motives for the Town and Gown ride in May, but it must be said that the chance to ride, at dawn, to Oxford, with the chill nip of the morning adding to the trepidation, in the most delightful of company, was a major advantage. The day was glorious, from the sunrise at our backs as we headed out on the A40, the welcoming committee at Watlington with much needed food and drink, to Fat Old Bloke's bike parking bay, hard up against Keeble College, to the amazing welcome and interest on the run itself.
And who can forget Hat's bottle of port at the finish? The perfect isotonic drink, at the most opportune of moments.
If that was not enough, we also won an award from the charity, for most innovative fundraising team of the year. Here is a picture of me receiving the award from the President of the MD Campaign, the delightful, witty and charming Sue Barker.
Thanks, one and all, for being there, for supporting the fundraising effort, and reaffirming my belief in the inherant goodness of people, and our ability to find a cure and overcome the terrible misfortune of muscular dystrophy.

I do not know the series, but can speak as I find.
One of the most charming people I have ever met, totally dedicated to the charity, and so lacking in airs and graces. Her ability to freely mix with professors of medicine, the horrifically disabled, and assorted fund raisers, from every possible background, was a sight to behold.
She said some lovely things about our efforts as she announced our award, and after mentioning Team Dick van Bike paused, and laughing, said "I just love that name!" which drew applause from the audience.
Thanks everyone, especially from my cousin and his delightful son Tom, to whom such efforts and gestures mean so much.
Oh, and finally, the proof of the pudding, the coveted President's Award, from the charity.

Hear hear. Brilliantly organised, marshalled and run by the Guinness master.
If only he'd arranged a ride to the presentation ceremony he might have got there on time!
It's only when see I pics of myself do I realise how tiny I actually am!!
The 'other' photos could come in handy for years to come I suspect :-).
