It's a friends birthday so I might have to leave super early, but if I can make it for some/all of the ride, I will!

Top man Bernardo. Agree with Tim, the ale festival was a particularly nice touch.

Thanks for organising this Bernie. I'm in, but as I'm one of the 'county cousins' will be joining you somewhere in the Chilterns - hopefully at the top of Christmas Common.

cheers21 miles from Tooting to Iver, 55-60 miles to Oxford, 3x 20 minute refuelling stops, looking at arriving at the Turf around 4pm, to enjoy the sunset over the university.
How long you want to ponder a pint or three in the pub, is very much up to you. If I can organise another real ale festival, we may be there some time...

Wow, we are not looking to get quite that drunk, but then again...

Bernie.... I'm not implying he will have to pick me up off the floor! I live in Milton Keynes (am I forgiven?) and need a lift home so will have the option of a small libation.

I don't have to be back in London until the evening, so I might make it all the way to Oxford. Double whoooo hoo!

Yahoo, surely? The best of news, either way.
Shall we make the peri-wigs and frock coats obligatory?

Quickest flounce ever. Bit embarrassing, forgot I am in Glasgow at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome watching the racing this whole weekend!

Could do rendezvous at Ealing Broadway or somewhere west before Iver.

To celebrate the 345th anniversary of the Dean's birth, we are heading out to the dreaming spires of his alma mater, Hertford College, on Saturday, 17th November.
Some will be catching the 9:27am from Paddington to Iver station, arriving at 9:49, for a 10am prompt departure.
Other wanton souls, desirous of more extreme punishment to their corporal bodies, will be gathering at 8am, Tooting Broadway, for the 21 mile warm up ride to Iver station.
We will be aiming for autumnal lanes, a cheekly climb or three out of Henley, Christmas Common, and any other torture that Paul B, my best man, can come up with, with satirical gratitude to be expressed as the lungs and legs struggle before the challenges in store.
There will be two or maybe three short refuelling stops, each of no more than 20 minutes, and a steady pace, averaging 15 mph. Gears are more than welcome, single for sure, but think carefully about fixed, as some of the down hill desents on wet leaves, are going to be challenging in the extreme. Brakeless is not, I fear an option, with us riding in close proximity on narrow paths and lanes, and double brakes are obligatory.
I am hoping our beloved cousins from the county of Ox, will be out to welcome us with offers of impailment on agricultural implements, and a warming torch to the extremities. Maybe a sub gathering in Watlington, or otherwise close to the Chilterns, will add extra numbers and wit, to the party.
And finally, as our destination comes into view, thirsty pilgrims will be thinking of their first pint at the Turf Tavern, behind the college, and eventually, after more ale, and nourishment of both body and soul, a stately procession to the train station, for the return journey back to Paddington.
What say you, proud people of this fine forum, will we travel alone, or in good company?
Oh, and a list...
