This sounds like an excellent ride. I'd be up for it if I had any sort of bike that would count! If you are in North Yorkshire the route could pass Grosmont, Goathland or Pickering for some vintage themed scenery courtesy old Heartbeat TV sets and the steam railway.
Steep banks round those parts mind.
I could spend all day dreaming up nice routes In the moors and dales.

I love Yorkshire. Helmsley area among many other parts, and Swaledale is very nice!

I may be interested, but not if the ride is in kilometres. Let's call it 94 miles, and then we're talking.
Unfortunately, next year May 27th is the day of the Hounslow 100, so I can't come, even if the distance is measured in furlongs.

I have a 2 acre field in Swainby if folk want to pitch up with us - at least 3 25% hills between us and Helmsley

You sound like sold gold, Yorkshireman!
Either that or a very well organized serial killer.
Count me in!

Are there white roads in upnorthshire?
Dalby Forest or Cropton Forest have some off-white roads. Not a million miles away from Helmsley either if that's on the cards.

Right on my doorstep (give or take a few miles), count me in. Luci, this sounds like a hoot, t'would be smashing to ride out with you once again. Small Walrus: how about it? You can stay at my humble abode, no problem.

British steel only? or is Italian ok ......

I'm not sure I have a bike suitable.. What year is the cutoff point? My tt frame was built in 1981, could probably build it almost period correct...
-
• #67
I don't think it has to be perfectly period but as long as you don't have STI's or clipless pedals then you should be fine.
-
• #68
Sweet. What you gonna ride Johnny? Will be rocking bar ends on friction.. Unless I buy something new/old before then, which is highly possible.
-
• #69
I'll have to have a look around for something suitable. I'm going to start scanning the classifieds and ebay a little closer to the time. (Hopefully I'll be off work for it!)
