  • hey can anyone give any info regarding pre-cursa sizing? I'm 6'3" with long legs and short torso, I ride a 62cm road bike with a short top tube - 60cm seems the obvious choice but I just want to check.

Also, can anyone recommend a drilled/drillable fork to go with it cos I don't really like the dolan road fork and would rather avoid clamp-ons.

  • 60cm all the way. Like you i have long legs and a short torso, I wouldn't mind if they did a 61 or a 62 to be honest. I'm riding the 60cm with my seat post still quite high to compensate for my inside leg. Have also just switched to a 170mm crank arm which seems to be completely fine clearance wise. I'd recommend the longer crank for our height and definitely the largest frame size too

  • Hi

Is the pre cursa ridable as a ss road bike

I travel 30 miles per day round trip

Just wondered if it may be too uncomfortable?

    Thnaks

    Steve

  • The geometry is quite relaxed really, I think you'd be fine. Currently doing about 20 a day as fixed so as long as you're riding road bars with a comfy seat I wouldn't worry

I had a 25 mile daily commute round trip on a pre-cursa fixed and it was fine

  • mine came without a brake hole in the rear, so I would not suggest it if you are going to ride single speed and not fixed. It is quite stiff also.

  • Indeed that's something I forgot to mention, it's not drilled for a rear brake!

Unless you wanna ride a rear disk..

  • What's the biggest tyre size i can put on pre cursa?
I'm thinking of 28 at the back and 25 on the front as there seem to be very little clearance with alpina fork.
Can i go for 32 and 28? I'll be getting gatorskins and i think that someone said something in the current projects thread about fitting 32c gatorskins on pre cursa due to the fact that they run slightly smaller compared to other 32 tyres.

  • for 200 quid. pre cursa's are fucking rad.

  • My first build is done. just need to chop the brake cable

    Anyone?

  • A mate has 28 comfortable in the back of his, not sure if you could squeeze a 32 in though. Maybe PM scoble? He had/has one and is all about the fat tyres

  • Thanks, i have pm'd him.
He said he was running both 32's on his dolan.
I've ordered one 32mm gator hardshell tyre - if it fits, i'll be getting another one.

  • Just fitted 32mm gatorskins on both wheels without any problem.

  • Damn I bet that's comfy!

  • such a versatile frame that ..

  • it's finally time to upgrade, so I'm looking at few bikes, does anyone know if it's possible or suitable to drill the precursa frame for a rear brake?

  • yep.

  • I have just bought a frame only Dolan Pre-Cursa, I want to build it up as a Track Style fixed gear that I can use as an everyday bike. I really like the Paul Royal Flush for a crankset, but it isn't very track style. Can anyone suggest a better track style crankset? Or should I just break the rules on the crank and keep it track everywhere else?

  • track style? you mean uncomfortably stiff with saddle too hight, narrow drop bar that's impossible to keep straight when you hit a pothole and no brake to avoid hitting a fat german tourist?

Yes, I am a glutton for pain......

  • nice one, cheers edscoble, is it a simple DIY job or a job for professional, if so, can you recommend any decent guys on here who might be worth a shout?

  • most decent bike shop should be able to do it for you, unless you're comfortable doing it yourself.

Ringo, go for what you like.

  • nice one, cheers dude! I'll post up pics when the new build is all sorted.

  • yep.

you reckon ? how ? wouldnt the alloy tubing be to thin ?
