true, but i use my timbuk2 without xstrap no problem.
i agree it's more difficult, but there is a sweet spot on a standard cross shoulder strap that changes with volume load. you get the hang of where it is at any load after a while.
i find having the bag rest looser - counterintuitively - stops sway.
