Paris is great for walking around shooting. I had my Bessa with me, about as heavy as a 5D. Brought a rucksack for when I got tired but ended up carrying it and using it all day long.
If you want to shoot street, go for the camera your fastest with. The DP1 seems to be good but a bit slow? You will be noticed with a 5D, but it'll be faster = more good shots.
Be careful about thieves though. I spoke to a french gentleman at a bar about cameras as I've just casually put mine on the bar. He told be that's a bad idea in paris, a lot of opportunist around
