Yes! I wanted to delete that thread and just keep this one, how would I go about doing that?

I don't believe they are Athena brakes. The Athena model was polished - they may be mirage and the rear hub is Shimano not c-record!

I did a bit of googling and said it was 1990 Athena?
Whoops, will amend the hub description! Sorry everyone!

If it's been painted by Raleigh in the 80's, why did they stick a 531 fork blade transfer on the seat tube?
Suspect.

Because it's a 531 frame?

... and if I was £500 richer I'd have it! "Minty" springs to mind.
Having said that, the Reynolds sticker on the ST does say "fork blades" and I really can't imagine Raleigh doing that; but stranger things have happened...
Fairly sure that there was no Mirage until 1995 (when parts were marked with the groupset) and my earliest catalogue is 1991, so I could easily be wrong, but the calipers look like Xenon in a "standard" finish (as opposed to "black"); even with the graphite finish, Athena calipers didn't have black dome nuts.

ooh, how much for the frame and forks? Also, how much do they weigh (if you happen to have them and a scale to hand!) and can I assume it was built for 700 wheels? And what is the rear separation?

Aha. I wondered why the sudden change of condition, from whole bike to bits.
Hi guys,
looking to sell this beautiful 80's Raleigh 531, 60cm. Story goes this was a bike provided by a shop for a rider, the shop had it painted by raleigh back in the 80's and did a fantastic job!
The original saddle got bitten by mice so this is the replacement. I do however have a Concor saddle (which original owner said that's what it had) so I can fit one on for the price of £30. This bike does have a very interesting history, the original owner got struck by lightning a few days after this bike was build, and the original owner said it hasn't been ridden ever since! I did buy this bike to add to my collection, but what good is a bike that's too big for you? I like to ride my bikes!
I do have the parts to complete this bike as a full Campagnolo super record groupset if you wish, but c'mon, original is always best
Chap who owned it before took real good care of it, told me he took it out his workshop every few years and cleaned, pumped the tyres up and maintained it since brand-new.
