  • peanut butter?

  • Would it be dangerous, and more importantly, a heinous act, to drill these forks?
    http://www.lfgss.com/thread94410.html
Struggling to find a decent set of drilled forks with a 220mm steerer.

  • installing my french thread velo orange bottom bracket,

normally cartridge BBs ive had in the past you screw the cartridge into drive side and then the loose cup on the non drive side, the VO bb only seems to go in the other way (ie the cartidge screws into the non drive side), will this be ok?

  • It should go in from the drive side, both threads are 35x1 right-hand. If you can't get it in the drive side, your BB shell probably needs its threads chased.

  • the frames NOS from 25 years ago its odd because the threading is seemingly the same length on both sides, the removable cup threads fine on the drive side only and the cartridge on the other but not the other way

where on earth would i get a french chasing done :|

  • I can't say it

  • the removable cup threads fine on the drive side only and the cartridge on the other but not the other way

Have you checked the handing of both cups and both sides of the shell? Can you start the threads the "right" way round, i.e. is the problem just a matter of not being able to get the cups threaded in to the required depth?

  • Yeah i can start the thread for both on both sides but they get 'stuck' halfway in and feel like they might thread further with force but i dont believe should be necessary? whereas the other way round they thread freely

  • I'm surprised that the problem only occurs one way round, but the general problem is a classical one, whose cause is obvious if you compare the thread length on your VO cartridge BB with the cup depth of a loose ball BB; old frames had their BB shell threads chased to a depth of about 12mm to accommodate classical BBs, and nearly always need further chasing to accommodate cartridge BBs.

  • Hmm, this is odd, would there be any downsides to just, using the cartridge on the NDS..? i most definitely dont have £90 going spare

  • Doesn't matter if they go in the other way does it? I took a BB out of my mates bike that was wrong way round the other day, and that had worked fine...

  • would there be any downsides to just, using the cartridge on the NDS..?

Can't see a problem if the spindle is symmetrical; I expect the 103 and 107 are, the 116 and up aren't, and it's anybody's guess for the 110 and 113, it depends on whose standards VO decide to follow.

  • This looks to have the same lug and tube set as my Panasonic (which is un-labeled), can anyone recognised the tubing stickers?

  • its 107 and semmetrical on both sides, just gna go with it..

  • What's the best (fastest?) business broadband service in the UK?

  • Anyone know a decent calendar printer/manufacturer? Vistaprint and photobox are pretty budget quality.

  • Lanzarote / Fuerteventura. Or any of the Canary Islands.

Not really touring, as such, but decent cycling nonetheless.

    Good doping, too.

  • Get the frameset, you won't get a better fork headset and seatpost new for £100

  • Frameset mean you got the headset, seat post and seat clamp altogether (beside the fork), for £100 more I think it's a pretty good deal.

  • I am building up a bike to exclusively ride at HH. I think a Dolan Pre-Cursa is a suitable frame. Do I get the frameset (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dolan-Pre-Cursa-Track-Frameset-/320930747467?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&var=&hash=item4ab8f6944b) or just the frame (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dolan-Pre-Cursa-Track-Frame-Matt-Black-Finish-/320930748747?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&var=&hash=item4ab8f6994b) and build with my own chosen components?

I've just done the same thing. Take into consideration that the frames use a proprietary headset, which I didn't realise until after the frame had arrived. That was another £15 on top. I also bought some carbon forks seperately, which although cheap brought it up to around the same £199 price.
If you think the forks from Dolan are worth £199 - £15 for headset - £15 for seatpost then I'd say go for the frameset. I know I would if I was to buy again, and just sell the included Dolan/Alpina forks.

I'm considering selling my 58 pre cursa as it won't be on a track until next year (missed all the basic sessions this year) and I've got a feeling it's too hard for roads around me. I've ridden it round the block once, will give it a proper go this weekend.

  • too hard for the road? i've used mine for touring round france and didnt have any problems.

  • too hard for the road? i've used mine for touring round france and didnt have any problems.

Yes, but in France the roads are made out of cheese.

  • Yeah, OK, I got lazy. So now I know what my bars are (prob an inch) so now I wonder what width STIs come ready for?

seriously calipers take away the guessing and they are cheap as chips
