Is there any point stumping the extra cash for Ultegra chains/cassettes/Chainrings over 105?
Probably not. Unless you want a full matching groupset.
Also, if I'm buying this kit and the pulley wheels look a wee bit fucked, should I replace those too, or are they just some bit of kit I ride til they fall off?
You might as well, they're fairly cheap.

With going Ultegra you will save the weight if you are a weenie but apart from that I dont see any advantage, my nice bike in the past had full ultegra groupset and I ran the cassette that came with it till it could then switched to 105 cassette.
No difference.

The main difference from 105 to Ultegra is lower weight, with the exception of the STI levers which, I would say, are a lot nicer* in Ultegra. They trickled down the aero shift cabling and brake cable pull ratio changes to both 105 and Ultegra at the same time (5700/6700).
*more solid-feeling, better finish

Thank you people... 105 it is.

As a full groupset, Ultegra is lighter & nicer to use. Especially the STI's, as Regal says. I would say that the chainset is the component where there's the least difference between the two though.

Too slow :-(

^^ yeah, the 105 chainset is really, really nice. Very good finish and very stiff.

ok now answer my question :P
Can someone let me know if there are any carbon 1" fork that I can buy new except for Columbus Minimal? Don't want to spend more than £160 which is the cost of Minimal.

Aren't Ultegra chains supposedly a prone to snapping?
Also 105 & Ultegra cassettes come in different ranges - there is no 12-27 in Ultegra, for example.
-

Well... Maybe my cassette is 105 now, because I ordered the same ratios. STIs and mechs are Ultegra... I don't think I'm fussed about the consumables.

I have what I thought was a 12-27 Ultegra cassette- are you saying that it has been lying to me, and is, in fact, 105?
I also have a 12-27 7900 Dura Ace cassette in a box somewhere, I know that's real as I bought it new. Still hurts.

Same here. I can't bring myself to use it yet. The only other option is selling it, for which I'd probably make just enough money to buy a new Ultegra cassette :-/

I may have meant 12-28I never use cogs in the 20s, so hence the confusion.
