  • In contrast to some of the epic build threads, I took delivery of this last tuesday, built and fitted the headset and rode it home the same day. Got some pics at it's first track outing tonight, unfortunately the lighting in there is terrible.

    So, here it is...

  • Nice, lots of lovely NJS kit on here lately. What is your plan for it?

  • All good.
    It looks small-ish.

  • It's a 53, so smallish.

The plan now is to find an Easton njs seatpost, as my original plan was to find a fillet brazed one and stick on a full dura ace group. This turned up and I couldn't say no.

I do also need to get some black grips, maybe a Concor too. Then I may relace another set of 7600 hubs into some clincher rims for practicalities, hopefully 32h Wolber Profil 20's. It will mostly be seeing track action so no need to bother with road bars or any of that jazz..

  • That sounds good, you already have a really nice build there, but maybe black tyres and grips would make it even cleaner looking.

Also if your fivegold needs a new home and its not the 30mm version, i would be interested. :)

  • It did come with blacked out tubs, but they weren't glued on properly, so I couldn't resist sticking the veloflex on for it's first track outing... The grips I had lying about. Black Champ V's may be on the horizon.

  • Slight update, still not done a proper photoshoot, but I got an Easton njs seatpost to complete the DA groupset...

  • Think I may need a Concor...

  • So nice, what size is it?

  • It's about 53/54..

  • Still waiting for a new chain and some black grips... Then I may stick blackwall tubs on for that stealthy look

  • Killer. Can't go wrong with NJS built correctly, nice job.
Surprisingly impressed with the grey bar tape!

  • Yeah, I'm not sure if I will use the black ones, they grey kind of works with the blue sparkle..

  • That seatpost needs a flite ti.

  • Hmm, Flite, or Concor....?

  • kashimax aero

  • Do they come in 44mm?

  • not sure I understand the question, some 44mm saddles are njs as well?

but they (aeros) have been made originally for bmx bikes, so they come in standard width.

    unless you want it stamped...

  • Aero's are standard width, and there are NJS saddles that are standard width too.

I've own both and my junk hated both.

  • ^ I love da aero. So comfy.

Bit confused: My plastic (BMX) Aero has 44mm & NJS stamp but it's not black white or brown - what's going on there?

  • 'This saddle started out in the 1980's as a BMX model, which actually had a NJS stamp under the shell, which means it was ok to use in pro track racing in Japan! The saddle was re-released in December 2008, due to high demand from the track bike crowd.'

  • ^courtesy of track supermarket.

  • Cheers Jake, that explains it.
I guess that the Plastic Mould tool carries the NJS logo so it comes out on all saddles irrespective of colour.
