Brake issues aside, here is my new rear wheel.

looks good, the brake pad looks about right too

Cheers, the pads do line up nicely, shame it's still the weinmanns. I might try the SLRs again on the new wheel. Or , as you suggested, go for a set with deeper drops and save the SLRs for something else.

from sheldon brown "The effective length of the arms of a caliper brake. This is measured from the centerline of the center bolt diagonally down to the middle of the brake shoe. Reach is commonly expressed as a range (allowing for the fact that the brake shoes are adjustable, typically over a 10-15 mm range.) For more information, see the article about caliper brakes.

Very informative, cheers for that. I will head down the Local bike shops armed with this info and my bike measurements to get the ideal set.

Here's an option when brakes won't fit with a bolt.

I've got some of those deep drop alhonga brakes, fitted but not used if you want those for like £19, or some longish (about 57mm) miche ones for about £16 (unused)... I have bought so much stuff and not used it, so stupid

Cheers, hang on to 'em please. Could you measure the bolt length on the front ones. Then i'll be able to see if they will fit through the front fork bolt holes on my frame. That was the other issue with the SLRs i bought.

Here's a new photo of mine.
I'd been using risers and my Wald 139 basket for a couple of months and fancied a change so went back to bullhorns (Thanks for the Cane Creek lever by the way, Wardy!)
Having ridden like this for about a week now, I'm much happier with the bullhorns, but need the basket back.
Of course it doesn't fit properly when mounted to the bars, been hoping to find a porteur style front rack to zip tie it to.I also went to unlock my bike this morning before work and someone had nicked my Knog lights as well as all the lights on the other bikes, bloody perfect!

For some reason your bike makes me want to drink some hot chocolate. Maybe it's because it's chilling in the lounge.

Haha! It was the only place I could find some decent light, but good call on the hot chocolate!

not fick swill but some of you may care
allow the bartape
They look okay, the issue really is if the front one would have a bolt long enough to fit through the front fork, the SLRs didn't quite manage it.
