No ashtray on mine, but it takes 5p coins. Or 1DM or 1 peseta.
Restoring it and building it was more fun than playing it. I am truly shit at almost all video games.

Can anyone recommend a place with a decent guitar tech in south/south west London? I need a new nut and setup on my strat. Most places I’ve spoken to so far don’t really fill me with confidence.

Bizarrely, the tech who works upstairs at Ritz Music in Putney is very good. My teacher (pro player) uses him for set ups and the like.

Does anyone have any experience in installing a bigsby tremelo to an archtop guitar? Would really like to do this.
Also I've an archtop with a P90 pickup installed and it's fucking horrible - tinny and crunchy and nasty. Any ideas for a warmer pickup which might even give a slightly more acoustic sound? Cheers kids.

Just started playing in a band again after having almost three years break.
Currently playing a aluminium neck Kramer 450b bass through an Acoustic Control Corp. 470 head into a (badged as a Sovtek) 4x10. It used to be two 4x10, but I sold one to buy bike parts.
Just using a Boss Bass Overdrive, Boss Bass Equalizer and a Rat copy that a friend of a friend made me.
I'm a big fan of Shellac, The Jesus Lizard, etc... so that's the bass tone I was going for. I think it's changed slightly for the new band though, but not much.
My old band sounded like this: http://swrds.bandcamp.com/ Two Kramer basses, drums, all instrumental.
Photos of gear that looks exactly like the stuff I own...

Those Acoustic heads are nice!
I've got an aluminium neck Kramer 6 string, heavy bastards those! Been meaning to sell it for ages as I never end up using it.
I purchased a Tech 21 VT bass pedal a few months ago, perfect for attaining that cold, clanking Shellac/JL tone bass tone.
I'm thinking of starting a new band to play bass in as the one I'm in has ground to a halt and I have a recently mended Sunn 300T head sat in the corner of the living room doing nowt, what a waste!

Yeah, after not playing bass properly for about 3 years, picking up the Kramer was a bit of a shock.
I saw Shellac on the weekend (and the weekend before) and Bob Weston was playing through a Tronographic Rusty Box, which was pretty cool seeing that it was made based on his bass tone. He ran it into an Ampeg SVT 4 and two Ampeg 15" cabs.
Love those old Sunn heads. Would love to get one, even though I have no use for it.

Cool bits V&N. can't listen to the link at work but worshiping at the alter of shellac is a worthy mission.
I've just been thrown into guitar lust disarray by thinking that my old Sigma D28 copy isn't really cutting it for the unplugged pub folk gigs i'm doing and the fact that a my friend and old band mate has just got a Gibson endorsement with 40% discount...
New J45 anyone? So tempting.

ha! I thought you liked your Epiphone?
I still need a Gold Top, a Silverburst and an Explorer in my collection....
Hmmm.

• #1949
I love my Epiphone, cheapest guitar I've ever bought (after the $150 SIlvertone) and I don't play anything else!
I need a white Junior tho'...No, I don't... ;)

I can order if you if yr serious. I'm not sure how serious I am tbh.
It's painful looking at that Gibson site. The J-45 standard "workhorse" is over $3,000, even with the discount I'm looking at around a grand I reckon. My endorsee friend is in Germany too so I'd have to fly over there and try a few out as well.
Nope, going to have to get this flat bought first before I can realistically start spending money on myself again. Plus I probably should buy a Mac and get recording properly at home before I start splurging on instruments I don't desperately need.
Guess i'll just continue to live vicariously till then. The fsker's got a Vox endorsement as well. He's just been given a new AC15 2x12 as well as a Les Paul 50s Classic Gold Top, a J-45, some kind of Epi jazz box and a 335 dot with a Bigsby on it.
BASTARD!
My parents had pubs when I was a kid, I got exclusive out of hours rights to play on the first generation of those sit-down machines! IIRC they had ashtrays on them and were 5p a go.
