  • good for portraits as well though i find its minimum focusing distance of ?0.7m a serious disadvantage.
the 1/250 is not a problem - i often use a 4x neutral filter on a sunny day or when using fast films. also i like the blurred images out of this camera - they 're different because of the central shutter.

poor man's leica - a friend of mine used to say. but i like it.

  • MV, you got PM

Leica wish they had made a Hexar equiv.

  • ^ What's so good about the Hexar?

  • as i said - an excellent camera with a superb lens.
ain't longing for a leica, another hexar AF would do.
in black finish, for a change.
    cheers, MV.

  • .....

    Silent mode.

    Autofocus in pitch black darkness.

Lens is supposedly very similar to a Leica 35mm lens which would cost 3 or 4 times what the entire Hexar costs.

  • I'm talking myself out of selling :S

  • Camera bags/pouches - recomendations? need something small for my M6 and a 50mm lens which I'll have attached probably. Ideally something classicish looking that will match the camera. It'll be inside my hand luggage on the flight so don't need major padding.

I also need to be able to pick it up in Brighton tomorrow or next day delivery online today (flying wednesday night so it can arrive in the AM).

  • Red Dot cameras should have something, but they tend to be pricey. Being a Leica specialist and all that...

  • Yep, they sell billingham from memory - which I'm not wildly enamoured by. Maybe just a soft leather pouch or something. Will investigate using my built-in Google function.

Wouldn't use Red Dot anyway. I sold a 90mm (with substantial sentimental value attached) to them a couple of years ago and the guy was a really unpleasant piece of work - but I was desperate for cash at the time and didn't have much choice. A real smug fuck.

I hope he gets a flat tire one day.

  • heheh. I know what you mean...

    Domke?

  • Just ordered this. Coming tomorrow hopefully:

New they're around 220. That was 79 + tenner for next day delivery. Now I need to stock up on film.

  • Domke looks nice Dan, ta.

Might investigate for an actual camera bag when I get back.

Still trying to track down Scott of BRP to make me a bag for my DSLR and laptop.

  • agreed on Red Dot, I was curious when it opened, thought it might be nice. guy was pretty snobbish and I felt like he was pushy. I certainly didn't feel like me or my future business was 'valued'.

  • His wife was OK and friendly enough, but he was just spectacularly unpleasant to me and, presumably so she didn't feel left out, another customer in there at the same time.

He reminded me of Comic Book Guy in The Simpsons but with no redeeming features, like: 'being a cartoon character and thus having a get-out clause for being such a dick'.

  • oh shite, i wanted to go to red dot just to 'have a conversation' about what they have and if it's suits me so I can buy kind of a thing, might not now .. camera cafe although seems pretty friendly.

  • He does give the impression of not caring unless you want to drop 6 grand on a Noctilux

  • my budget is 1/10th of that (for the body)

  • I'm talking myself out of selling :S

Combined with using it today to use up the film that's in it I've convinced myself to keep it.

    It's just so...perfect really.

  • two from a visit to the tanks, great space.

  • what is 'tanks'?

    is for all the fish?

  • under tate modern, leftovers from its power station days
