    The whole point of a centrifuge is it simulates gravity with spinning. And anyway the real gravity at that altitude is almost as strong as it is on the ground. He wouldn't feel it at the start of his freefall, but as he got towards maximum speed he'd feel it's full effect.

    He span because he was an aerodynamically unstable shape moving at high speed. If the speed estimates on the video are any good, he was out of control when he reached maximum speed and only recovered as he started to slow down.
