Some hope.
I'll admit that my reluctance to change is strongly influenced by my increasingly incompatible spare part supply.
Anybody need a box full of 25.4 mtb bars & stems :-(
Maybe I can still sell my old Thomson elite stems to some well off hipsters.
Polo players love 25.4mm flat bars, you can get the brake lever a decent distance inboard.
They also love doing a Double Thomson to finish off a build.

Looks good here!
I doubt that you'd see that many others about. If that kind of exclusive feeling appeals to you.

^^ Good to know, thanks!

^^ Yeah looking good. Need a test ride.

Hi Jeez, can only comment on the Lynskey as this is the only one i've ridden. For me its down to the balance of the bike when climbing.Just point it in the right direction and pedal. After 12 hours it just seem very efficient and supper fast once up to speed. Also corners as if on rails. Not sure about the physics of the bigger wheels, can only speak from experience.

anyone racing at Swinley this weekend?
-
• #3659
I can barely cope, my front end is so flexy with this noodle-esque headtube
Won't you need a new bike first?
-
• #3660
No, I need the noodly headtube as an excuse for coming last

Whyte 19ti build is 10.8kg
That's only 1kg more than my crosser with its training wheels on.
I can get it down to 10.5kg with the hollowgrams on it :)
I thought that was pretty heavy at 23.8lbs for a Ti hard tail and £3k but when I looked at the spec it seems less XC oriented than my build having 120mm forks, 711mm width bars! Also some cost cutting with FSA chainset, non XTR cassette etc.
Mine own Salsa build is 21.9lb without stupid stuff. Merlin £400 wheels, XTR 3x10, Rockshox SIDs, Hope Race X2s. Well some stupid stuff (ti stem, bars and post) but that added weight.
Self build was only a tiny bit north of £3k but the Ala Carte frame was half the price allowing the weight saving full XTR and Hope race.
Best money I've ever spent - just stunning to ride. It's lighter than my Enigma Etape road bike. If there is a downside it's that I have become utterly obsessed about drive train cleaning given the cost of XTR cassette and chainrings.

Yeah that's what I thought - it's carrying a bit of AM heft.
If I wanted super-light XC I would have snapped up a carbon Scalpel 1 in the sale. 9kgish.
Your salsa sounds lovely though. Photos please.

My bike weighs something, not sure what, but it's not light, and not heavy. It can take whatever I throw at it, isn't made of plastic.
Weight Schmeight.

Plus it's Titanium, custom Geo/Spec and the frame was only £575 (£499 to me as it's the second frame I've had from Triton)

My bike weighs lots. Gunter Mai's road bike weighs less than my fork
-
• #3666
Yeah, your fork weighs a ton!

Actually my GF is racing too, she'll beat me again if last weekend is anything to go by. It's only her second ever race too.

Not my usual type of bike. Like to try one out though.
