I'll try that. Not sure I understand what you mean though.

You see, this is why I hate modern teaching. I have never been told, and never made the connection of course, that a sine wavee is a projection of a unit circle... So obvious.

I did, it told me the answer I knew. Not an explanation of the process.
I know the fact, but wasn't sure how to explain why. Got it now though.
Thanks. -

A rectangle also works: draw a rectangle, add a line between the bottom left and top right corners. Your x and (pi/2)-x are the angles in the bottom left corner. Both sides of the equation are length of the rectangle over the length of the diagonal.

Will downtube shifters (friction) work with a 10speed cassette? Am thinking of converting my road conversion back to a road bike. Will the spacing might be too fine to use with dt levers. Anyone have any experience?

Can anyone recommend, or know of, any full finger gloves with gel pads?
All the ones I can find are the full silly blanket style ones that are far too hot and instantly result in sweaty hands.
I'm looking for something thinner like the Knog Knuckle, but with proper palm gel padding.

Junction of the A205 and Brockley Rise this morning- the junction was sealed when I went past at ~07:45, with the Police accident investigation team working away.
Jaguar X-Type had t-boned a motorcycle, the motorcycle was going straight on from Forest Hill to Catford, the X-Type was turning across traffic from Catford toward Brockley.
Looked like the car had hit the bike square on, and hard.
Anyone know if the motorcyclist is ok?
I asked at the scene but the fat oaf I spoke to said "that's up to the hospital innit?" when I asked.

^^ Rapha winter gloves. Actually, the old softshell gloves they did were excellent, just thin softshell material with a padded leather palm, but they don't do those anymore (I got two pairs from the sample sale). Also, they did full finger pro gloves that were basically the same as the pro mitts but full fingered, but again they don't do them anymore.
So, erm, dunno, sorry. I did have some full-finger Specialized BG ones that were good but not a patch on the Rapha ones really, and not all that great in chilly weather (short at the cuff, mesh material on the back that wasn't windproof).

I like the Specialized BG Ridge, thin palm with strategic padding at the base of the palm.

^ I think the ones I had were an older version of those. Pretty decent, no annoying seams or anything.

It should work, but friction shifting a 10 speed cassette take quite some time.
If you have any 8 speed cassette lying around, I'd go put those one to make it much easier.

oooook. seen from this other perspective it makes a lot more sense.
from the decathlon picture it looked like an hanger.
I think it's easy to explain if you draw it, with the hypotenuse as the radius of circle centred on x=y=0, you can then see how (π/2)-θ relates to θ making it obvious why the sin of the one is equal to the cos of the other.
