  • matt works for a travel agent.

  • Which TNRC'er was it that I had a lengthly conversation with in the rooftop pool about the online ticketing industry? He worked at ticketmaster... I'm interested in asking him opinions on the industry for part of a scathing critique of the industry at large in a white paper :)
    somebody didn't get glastonbury tickets...

  • somebody didn't get glastonbury tickets...

    lols!

Incidentally I'm not havign a great day at work... fortunately I left my garmin and lights on charge at home so, if I've time, I can pick up the bike and roll out to Clapham.

    Weather's looking good!

  • Just me on the train then - see you Clapham Ben. Get's in to EJ at 19:45 if you are riding out.

  • Ok. Andrey and I will meet you @ Effingham at 19.45.

  • definitely out, even if I finish work before 7 I am being forced to attend mandatory office drinks where I will be forced to drink booze a plenty.

    #firstworldproblems

  • See you at Clapham des, text me which carriage.

  • Have fun peeps. I'm entertaining some Californian friends with Paella.

  • four came out, weather was clement, pace was solid. A good time was had by all :)

  • Cheers for the ride guys. Des, Ben - I owe you both a pint.

  • Very nice ride - enjoyed that even if taking the fixed round cruelly exposed the impact of hardly riding any hills this summer. Next year...

Once Were Warriors is the NZ film I was talking about Ben.... Shane Meadows/This is England is about the closest reference I can think of. Well worth watching pre your trip.

  • Will do Des, got the Japan guidebook on the Kindle too. Thinking of scaling down the ambition in terms of cities vs. pootling about in Tokyo/Kyoto and a quick visit to Osaka. Will read through and ask you for some of your advice again!

Next one on the 23rd will be the final ride of the season: a shorter ride with an extended visit to the pub at the end of the route as a goodbye to TNRC for the year and a wave goodbye to London (and the UK for a while) for me. I'll bring cake!

  • also: it'll be flat as my Canyon may be packed up and winging it's way to NZ by then... selfish

  • you moving to NZ ben??

  • you moving to NZ ben??

UK > Japan > NZ > Chile > UK over the course of 5 months :D

3 months of which are working in NZ

  • E4 or Potters Bar work out well for pub stops at the end, and they could both be easily truncated slightly to give more time.

  • 23rd?

Good call on Japan - Tokyo & Kyoto could easily keep you going (or drive you mad) for a couple of weeks.

Next one may not be the last ride though - weather is usually all over the place this time of the year, so may put a couple more up if the forecast looks ok. Late in the day though it is, I need to get some more riding in this year. Good thought on E4 Matt - just cut out the second loop.

  • Oooo I thought we were finishing. Fair enough/ as you were!

  • Boo!

  • Boo!

  • right, the canyon is all cleaned up, packed up and ready for shipping... let do something flat and warm... a nice ale perhaps?
