  • exactly what I did with the photos...

  • Its all about context... if you're shooting corporate portraits you might need bath salts.

As soon as my 450d breaks, I'm getting a Fuji and selling my canon glass.
Damn thing won't break. Its a beast.
Its been to west bank, been to less than safe parts of mexico and covered in Cuban mud. Its been handled by small children and its been dropped. Yet it still works perfectly with not a hint of what its been through.

  • I'm trying to figure out why I can take awesome photographs when totally hammered and in a pub... sober I suck majorly. Can't spend my life hammered so gotta work out what the difference is

My best work is when I'm hungover.

  • I don't mean to make anyone jealous but i'm editing an interview and profile of Sebastião Salgado for CNN this weekend. and hopefully i'll get to meet him.

when i said "i don't mean to make anyone jealous", I was of course lying.

  • My boss dropped her compact in the Dead Sea. She's fine with the camera being fucked but the SD card has four years worth of photos. That haven't been backed up. What are her chances of getting them back? She says her PC doesn't recognise the card. Any data recovery recommendations? Photoben? I know you must have used someone during your illustrious career. :)

  • I use a program called Photorescue for that sort of thing. Is it a SanDisk card? If so I think I has a free pass for their program. Chances are pretty good for getting them back...

  • 4 years?! Sorry to be blunt but fuckin hell

  • What about the salt and all that jazz? You know, Dead Sea being the Dead Sea and all...

And yes. Four years. I facepalmed.

  • ^Mum? Is that you??

  • 4 years! Pfft! My mum has six years worth on her camera.

  • r

So I'd still need to invest a grand to get an xpro.

I cannae see that there's a grand difference between the two.

There is a cheaper version called the X-E1, only difference it doesn't have a hybrid viewfinder, bit it does have a higher resolution digital viewfinder.

  • when i heard cheaper, i got excited having wanted an xpro for a while. £1400 is still slightly out of my price range

  • that's the lens kit right?

    £750 for X-E1 body.
    £1,000 for XPro1 body.

  • I have a Canon 5D in excellent condition with extra battery, and 24-105mm lens, i reckon the price would be £800 second hand?

  • What about the salt and all that jazz? You know, Dead Sea being the Dead Sea and all...

And yes. Four years. I facepalmed.

Wasn't submerged for that long though right? As the guy said on the blog, take the card apart and give it a good clean, put back together.

  • that's the lens kit right?

    £750 for X-E1 body.
    £1,000 for XPro1 body.

yeah jessops has it for 1400 with the kit lens.

if the body is 750 then isnt 650 a bit much for the lens?

  • if you buy the xpro-1 (from anywhere) this month you get a free lens!

    http://www.fujifilm.eu/uk/products/digital-cameras/pro-enthusiast/model/x-pro1/

That's both fucking good and fucking annoying, as i'd like a free lens but already have the camera.

  • Only if you buy a body and lens, still a good deal thought

  • yes, good point.

I find it particularly annoying as i've bought the body and 35mm lens and would really like the 18mm too, but have run out of money for the moment.

  • Quick question for you camera peeps - where is the best place in London to go that will have the biggest range of Bridge cameras?

  • Does anyone have an X100 and an online collection of photos taken on said X100? Trying to get an idea of what sort of stuff it can be used for and flickr is making my eyes bleed.

  • ^ MetroLandman's Tumblr? He's a dab hand with a camera.

  • I have a Canon 5D in excellent condition with extra battery, and 24-105mm lens, i reckon the price would be £800 second hand?

    ^

  • I'm after a sub £100 compact to take cycle touring with me - Any recommendations, I'm deliberately not looking for anything expensive because

a)likelyhood of being lost or stolen
b)I'm useless at taking photos, no matter the camera

so something point and shoot - any brands to go for? avoid?

    ^

I have seen some good pics come out of the Canon Ixus compacts. I would also be inclined to look at the Panasonic Lumix range.

This is a good buy and ticks all your boxes.

Came to ask the same question as girlfriend is going to SA for 2 weeks, self-proclaimed breaker of cameras, so she wanted a cheap compact rather than anything nicer which I was trying to lend her for the trip. Found said link, bought her said camera. She was happy with it. Job done.
