If you take Brawn's technical and strategic ability, Mercedes' near bottomless pit of money and add Schumacher as a coach and talent scout for young drivers you have the makings of a scary team that has the potential to dominate the sport for a long time. That is what I would be looking to in his position.
This seems the best course to me. He always seemed more attached to Brawn than he did to Ferrari. Having Hamilton there does make it a touch trickier though. I never felt that Hamilton and Schumacher got along too well.
