Saw a chap with one yesterday outside Waterloo.
Every time he wanted to check behind himself he had to adjust his head to the same angle as the special kid in my primary school, and hold it for a time in order to focus.
I could not help but think that turning to look behind him would be quicker and safer.

Those tiny bar-end mirrors work ok, and are less goofy (which isn't saying much).

It's a focal length issue I think- as we get older we lose the ocular muscle tone that allows us to swiftly refocus from very very close (mirror) to middle distance (typical cycling), so it introduces a delay.
As these are typically sported by greying cyclists, that is.

We followers of the scoble use bar end shifters. So no go.
Looks like a real step towards becoming part of the Borg.

i remember an article proposing that it's actually safer to look around behind you, than to use mirrors, as the driver of a car behind you then sees your face, realises you're human and takes more care while overtaking. looking can also indicate where you're going i think (along with hand signals of course)

agreed. Looking over your shoulder is a great indication to cars that you might be about to maneuver

A new fixed hub from Hope?
-
• #339
that possibly just a hope sticker ?? an old one too, they would have done laser etching like the pro 2's and evo's if it was new.
-
• #340
I found it on the hope facebook page. Just saw this comment by them which explains the old logo.
Hope Technology Ltd This hub was in production in 94/95. We need to look at making them again. Possibly :-)

• #341
why can't they make bolt on instead!?
-
• #342
Bolt on would be better ( if they ever make them again ) I think I'd prefer to see the splined type. Mainly for the adjustable chainline.
-
• #343
^ but the cogs are £15. Bolt on would be piss easy for them to make as they already have fro disc hubs the could use
-
• #344
Just because you and threads dont get on
-
• #345
they're wank
-
• #346
I just dont understand you you strip so many cogs/ lockrings

As folk seldom hang there shoes on the scale when taking WW pics of their bike. It makes a massive difference.
