They are freaky and I like them a lot.

I saw Rodriguez perform at a Secret Screenings event last night. He was pretty good for someone 70+. We (the audience) had just watched a documentary about him which made the performance a little bit more poignant.

Bruuuuuuuce in Hyde Park yesterday.
John Fogerty and his suspiciously brown hair was amiable played all the Creedence classics and was only occasionally awful. Horrible band though.
Lot to like about Bruce. Great show. He's still got it. A shame it ended like it did. I do hate these mass events though. So much not to like. And I think 3:45 is too long to play for when most of the 80,000 stuck shoulder to shoulder haven't had a drink or a piss since long before you started. I must admit my attention started to wander about three hours in... and by the time he went into yet another fake-out extended ending 20 minute jam-fest my patience snapped.
Still, got to sing along with Born to Run with my friends which, on balance, is a very good thing.

John Cale at the RFH last night. A very long set short on the hits, but he's never pandered to the typical. At 70 he's still performing imaginative, new arrangements of much of his material, while writing interesting new stuff. A wonderful evening, intensely performed throughout and a hypnotic Gun/Pablo Picasso encore of such force you can only marvel at the power of music in the hands of a true master.

Dirty Projectors last night at the Roundhouse.
Admittedly never been a massive fan, but could appreciate what they are about.
There was no doubt they played well and found myself appreciating them more than ever before, which I guess is to be expected live.
The majority of their stuff was from the newer album and was surprised how easier it was to enjoy compared to listening to the record.
I won't lie though, there were a few times when it was a challenge to dance with their irregular time signatures. -

Couple of things coming up from me:
This Sunday 21st October at Olivers Jazz and Piano Bar in Greenwich, 8pm onwards "From a Basement on a Hill", an Elliott Smith tribute night featuring my band Elvers, My Dark Captain and others playing a shedload of ES tunes.
https://www.facebook.com/events/298657766908325/permalink/312696652171103/
Also my band Elvers are starting a regular monthly residency at the King Charles I, Northdown St, Kings Cross this coming Thursday 25th October from 8pm.
We're guitar, banjo, accordion and bass playing without amplification, just strumming, picking, and hollering into the tiny bar. Haven't done a poster (or recorded the new band) yet but the pub is here:
You'll find us by the fireplace, under the stuffed Kudu's head next to stained glass window of Elvis. We'll be back every fourth Thursday until further notice.
Cheers,
A

As a big fan already, you wont be surprised to hear that I absolutely loved it. It's the second time i've seen them and i'm still amazed at how well they bring the complex recording to life, live.
9/10.

There was no doubt they were brilliant, particularly loved 'Maybe That Was It'.
Was pleasantly surprised how much they sounded like the studio versions, in a good way like. Any faves Soul? -

Maybe That Was It is my favourite track on the new album and right up there for last nights performance as well.
I would probably say may favourite track last night was either Stillness Is The Move for Ambers vocals or Useful Chamber as a great way to end the set (pre encore).
Having said that, Beautiful Mother still amazes me for the harmonies. Well worth the price of entry.
