  • I'm stalling on the Aldens, just can't stomach the cost! Someone push me :-)

  • they will distract people from how ginger you are

  • Has anyone ever told you how witty you are?

  • get a room

  • I have a room fo sale, in case you 2 lovebirds need one.
    BNIB.

  • Just buy them. My pal bought a pair and said they required surprisingly less "wearing in" than he was thinking.

What have you ever spent large ££ on that you regret? Your Merican? Anything else? Think of them as Mercians for your feet.

  • I've been looking at a pair of winter boots - and found these:

Loake 'wolf' brogue boots - with fur lining and a winter-ready rubber sole. Should be nice and toasty for winter (and slightly cheaper than the awesome cordovan boots, which you should totally get).

Before I bite the bullet - has anyone got a pair? I can't find anywhere in London that stocks them, so would have to buy online.

  • Where are you if you need fur lining?

I was tempted by these a while ago

  • Mmm, those were the other option. I just love the idea of having really toasty toes as I take the dog for a walk on a frosty morning.

Might be a tad overkill though.

  • half size bigger + wool socks. I've spent a day in -20C in my wolverine 1000 mile boots with that, toasty all day

  • I remember there being an ebay seller called something like 'loakefactoryoutlet' seems to be gone now though.

  • If anyone is interested there are a load of Patrick Cox shoes on secretsales today ranging from £99 to £159.

link here for registration http://secretsales.com/registration_/?invite=9028043 (if you use this you get a tenner voucher after first purchase, as do i...)

  • They were "proper" in the 90's.

Now they're just worn by people in Basildon.

  • What're they?

    Me likey...

  • I'm pulling the trigger on some Indy Boots. Yikes.
Getting them off the bay, so reasonably cheaper than anywhere else, still....

  • Or like you like to call it 'round here, Alden 405.

  • Which colour?

Oiled (dark), or the lighter coloured ones?

  • 405's?

    Obvsly.

  • Oiled Dark.

  • Good work.

That's the colour I'd go for. I have some NDC boots in a lighter tan colour.

They actually come in a much darker colour than that photo.

  • Yep, in black.

Where to find a matching leather whip, though?
