I have just come here to slate the Gore Bike Wear waterproof jacket I got for Christmas last year as it's basically useless already. I was drenched after about two miles yesterday. And the zip on the stowaway pouch broke.
The far cheaper (though admittedly not as nicely cut) Corinne Dennis one I got 6 years ago is still going strong.

anyone trying to look good while cycling in the pissing rain is setting themselves up for misery and disappointment. Do the right thing in some clownsize waterproof trousers and penguin overshoes and let the smug satisfaction of winning at weather flow.
fwiw mine are Endura and fine, if not stylish

I don't want clown trousers :( has nobody made some waterproof women's trousers that are a bit slimmer on the leg (because girls don't tend to wear things as baggy as men on the lower half) and have a zip along the sides so you can just zip them over what you're wearing and take them off when you get where you're going?

Also, I wore my Rapha women's rain jacket for the first time today. Man it was good.

They look quite nice I think, as waterproof trousers go. Apparently Mosquito is a dealer which is vaguely near you I think.
edit: also presumably they would be able to acquire them in more than one size :l

I found some nice but pricey ones on Sweaty Betty of all places! No link as I'm on the phone but they were called 'all weather trousers' I think...
-
• #537
I live above Mosquito! Well, almost. Will pop in.

Did anyone else read the blurb as "the taped seams keep you dry & flat-fronted" ?
-
• #541
^ yes :)

I went for a stroll round Stratford Westfield yesterday and went in the bike rooms shop for a mosy. I've needed new shorts for a while so I tried on some Assos ones, oh my god they're amazing! The nice man in the shop gave me 10% discount but they were still expensive, I bought them anyway and I think my bum will thank me. haha.

• #543
Oh, Sweaty betty. They look nice. Wonder how they look on someone with thighs... :/
-
• #544
Right so I went to Sweaty Betty today and tried on the waterproof trousers and within 0.5 seconds I realised they were PERFECT.
Today was also payday.
Ergo; I am now the proud owner of some nice looking waterproof trousers!
^ I am small (I bought XS) but have cyclists legs and they are fine on me.

Dammit, I should charge for my stylish finding services!
This is where we need another pic of you in new clothes Scoot...
-
• #546
Ha I was going to but I didn't want to make this the 'pictures of me' thread. If you want to see how they look I'll be happy to though!
-
• #547
Are the Sweaty Betty ones actual trousers as opposed to over-trousers, iyswim?
-
• #548
Oooo I did 10 miles in pouring rain yesterday, and were perfect! They're loose/stretchy enough to easily cycle in, but not so baggy that they catch in the chain.
^ They can be both really, they fit like tracksuit bottoms so you can go bare legged or not. However since they are waterproof they do get quite warm so in the current temperatures I wouldn't wear anything too thick underneath.
Yesterday it wasn't too cold but I wanted to be able to strip off quickly once I got to college so I wore thin trousers underneath which was perfect.

Ohhh...my fashion-side is having a fight with my tight-arse side. Might have to give these a go.

Ha ha! My thoughts exactly Mands! I'm due a birthday present from ma poots so maybe I could persuade her to chip in on these.
Buying some decent waterproof trousers will result in a dry winter. Fact!
Michaux Club was at the Bermondsey Street Festival yesterday selling these rather nice ladies' leather cycle bags (note the reflective detail):
