Best cyclocross bike under £1000 and other CX chat

Friend has had an issue with his brand-new Boardman CX Team. The front BB5 brake disc has rubbed against the inside of the fork under normal use, and is set up fag-paper close to the fork blade.

I've just bought one of these, and I've noticed that it's close (1cm away). Surely it's just been mounted wonky - I'll have a look at mine tonight.
