Smokers have a plethora of advice telling them that what they are doing is harmful both to themselves and others. Every time they pull a pack of fags out their pocket they will see warnings. I wouldn't say anything to a smoker in the street as I find it hard to believe they don't already know.
I don't believe this is true of the bad habits of some other cyclists. I have learnt a lot from other cyclists about ways of staying safe on the road, I have changed the way I ride because of advice from other cyclists. I don't see the giving of advice as being as arrogant as refusing to listen to advice.
