Start > Run > eventvwr > hit enter, Look for warnings and errors
Find out what video card you have and download the latest drivers from manufacturer.
Look for hardware conflicts in the Device Manager (right click My Computer)
Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Action Center and see if there are any warnings
Give it to someone who can do this crap quickly.
