Yep great camera. I preferred the electro 35 in the end: 90% of the bokehfest, half the weight, better controls. Still have one somewhere on long-term loan to a mate... hope he's not left the battery in all this time.
Half the weight!? Jaysus! I find the electro heavy enough to be honest!
Anyways. XA-2 and HP-5 on a brief work trip. I like the grain.

Just a tip, I've always found C200 to come out really well if you slightly over expose it, especially with a low aperture. It reaches that kind of slightly dreamlike tinge I love.

LOVE that!

The Louvre - nasty walmart superia (all I had) - M7 + 35mm

I always get headaches when some on here report shooting low budget film,
especially with something like a M7.
I mean come on.-
Nice shots, Kolor!

I mean come on.I ordered 5 rolls or portra, but it all turned up after I'd left...believe me, I had a headache as well...

last night i was at a party and someone had spilt quite a considerable amount of vodka on one of my cameras, the camera still works but i wonder what effect this had on the actual film, hopefully it's not ruined

Has happened to me - super frustrating. Similarly I went on a trip and I couldn't afford to buy good film. Shot on old crap stuff I had lying around - was a total waste of time and all the photos were shit as a result. Was well gutted, especially as I really liked a lot of the shots but they really sucked due to the crappy medium.
Live and learn.

Yeah - it's the second time it's happened to me now. My own fault for leaving it so late - but it did say my order would be dispatched that day...
Ditto - like some of my shots, but they've got nasty nasty blue grain. As you say, live and learn.

I can't keep a big stock of nice films though - I always run out no matter how much I buy.
This weekend was a prime example. The only roll I had left was a roll of Superia 800, I ended up shooting it outside on a sunny day.
Shot pretty much the whole roll at f16.
I reckon it's going to look horrible.

good tip. overexposing by 1/2 - 1 stop has usually worked well for me on most colour negative films. usually do this to cheapo film to bring out the colours a bit.

Do you do that by setting the film speed wrong?
Sorry for newb question.

• #4694
You can either do it via exposure compensation if you have that option, setting the film speed wrong by a notch or just do it by over-metering a tad.
I've found that Fuji superia x-tra looks really nice if its slightly over-done too, especially the fast 1600 stuff. Something about the greens just comes out particularly well.

^ pretty much what well said
there are a few ways of doing it. the easiest way is if your camera's got a meter just set it at 1/2 the ISO speed of the film for 1 stop overexposure. or 3/4 the ISO speed for 1/2 stop overexposure.
ektar 100 looks nice shot at 50 as well.
-
• #4696
I like Ektar but the colours are pretty mental - the reds in particular.
What's it like over exposed?
-
• #4697
colours get a bump in saturation so the image looks punchier, although sometimes you get weird colour casts in different lighting conditions. but that always seems to happen with ektar if the exposure is slightly off. defo not one for portraits at ISO 50.

Seriously pondering getting a scanner. Has anyone used an Epson v700? It seems to get good reviews, and is modern enough to run under osx with VueScan. Or would I be better off with an older but dedicated 35mm scanner? I've no need for a normal scanner, all I want to do is to get better results than the minilab without spending a fortune
-
• #4699
I have a V700 - it is good, but if you know you won't shoot medium format I would say go with a dedicated 35mm neg scanner - preferably a Coolscan - although some of the Minolta ones are pretty decent.

Heard good thing about them too.
Even the older model (Epson 4990) is said to deliver real good results!
It says this on the lens:
canon e lens series sigma zoom 28 80 macro
EDIT: when I get my negs back, is there anything I should out for in particular that could mean a fault with the lens/body?
