Vos like a Boss (someone had to say it). Is she the Eddie Merckx of women's racing? I haven't seen any threads on the clinic about her, I hope she's regarded as a clean rider. I loved the Aussie Heylan getting silver, dropping the Italian on the Cauberg. Shame Pooley couldn't bridge and get in the mix for medals. I hope for mens the GB team don't try to control the peloton and instead go for the breaks. Its going to suit a puncheur, Gilbert for the win?

More like Eddy Merckx, Eric De Vlaeminck and Sir Chris Hoy combined if there's a need to name men to illustrate her being the greatest cyclist in the world. And she's only 25...

not to mention boonen. I also think degenkolb might have half a chance as an outside bet.

Peter did mention Boonen. :)

The peloton is taking a piss.
-
• #2111
Jesus, they're pissing on people's front gates.
-
• #2112
Now they are eating food with their bare hands.

I quite fancy Degenkolb's chances too. It's a course that suits him, he's in form and he'll have the entire German team working for him.

Sagan has said he doesn't have the form of the summer, plus he has a tiny team with him.
I'd like Degenkolb towin, just for the post-race interview
Boonen or Gilbert are the favourites for me though

Someone needs to give Millar a job doing punditry lots of good info and insights..

JTL makes a move

Excellent Sunday TV.
+1 for Millar, he's doing a great job of explaining the intricacies and correcting Porter without being condescending.

Good that GB have 2 up the road, means the rest of the team can sit back.Enjoying watching the Belgrian 'dream team' suffer at the front, looks like they're only going get help from the Aussies. After the agony of watching GB trying to reel in the break in the Olympics there's a pleasant sense of schadenfreude. Watching JTL and Contador climb together is ace too

Cavendish back in the bus, wiggins and froome, also?
Am I being stupid in wondering why they were there if they werent going to contribute? Making up the numbers? Making sure different strategies are covered? -
• #2121
They did contribute.
-
• #2122
GB did a lot of work at the front for the early part of the race, Cav in particular
-
• #2123
Probably before I tuned in.
Thanks.. -

Loving voeckler trying to organise over the top of the cauberg..

Fascinating race now, its up for grabs now its back together. Swifty for the win? :P
The women's race probably gave a good clue as to how the men's race will go; try and get someone in the break to be there to help when the team leader attacks on the Cauberg with 3 laps to go, form a small group, attack again on the last lap.
I wonder if anyone will be as head and shoulders above the others as Vos was today though.
