When I noticed it gone I really quickly made up that poster that I posted in my blog, my housemate emailed it to his mates and one of them saw it and recognised the bike when a dude turned up offering it for sale. He said it was a mates bike and being looked for, the guy settled to £20, said he'd bought it himself and needed the money back.
Basically, speed, get the word out quickly while the bike is still round the corner with the first thief, and not down a chain on the other side of London.
There were so many people after this one that it would have been very hard to ride it anywhere in London, ever. So thank you very much to those.

Thanks Will. The bad news is that the incompetent thief anglegrinded the lock off, and straight through the 0.4mm thick downtube. Sadly. Only discovered later in the day.
