I'm no expert but the mixed group suggests its not original. Obviously resprayed at some point. Compact geometry so was built for racing.
Lugs don't look fancy but clean lines suggest reasonable quality. Weight of bike/frame would help grade it. If its about 10kg or less as pictured then you have something quite nice.
Also look for frame serial ID stamped on bottom bracket and see if you can see the brand on the drop outs. Usually respray masks these details so might have to peel paint if you really want know.
Big French brands obviously Peugeot and Motobecane, both made top end bikes but also lots of middle ground and leisure bikes.
Horizontal drops suggest pre 1990's. Also figure out what diameter the seatpost is, if 27.2mm you could be on to a winner.
Overall value to me on what I can see in the picture IF it was a quality tubeset would be up to about £200 tops.
