  • ^^ it's seems slightly less shitty than last year. They have put some hills in now and the website works.

It seems like an amatuer race without Sherwin and Liggett.

Those two? Their self-indulgent plappermouthing ruins race coverage for me. It actually makes me dumb – like watching Hollyoaks (but without the fit people being blonde girls).

  • ^^ I know what your saying but after watching years of TDF coverage by them anyone else just doesn't seem right

  • "Here they come under the lantern r... sorry the er, um, er... they have 1 kilometre to go"

An An Post rider gets caught after a brief effort off the front in the run in - "Leigh Howard's effort off the front didn't last long" (or words to that effect)

FFS, Porter should have been put to pasture years ago, his commentary at the Olympics was abysmal.

Phil and Paul can fuck off too.

  • I think Wiggins came close to accidentally winning in Blackpool yesterday.

    (the sprint's from 3:15)

  • I bitch and moan but in fact am just happy that there's cycling being shown live on free TV.. No matter that Hugh Porter is getting decidedly Murray Walker and Rob Hayles voice sends me to sleep..

If you mean the last Sky lead out man, that was Luke Rowe and looking at the last seconds, Wiggo pulled over and around the same time Cav eased off and dropped in behind other teams' riders. I 'think' the plan was to let Rowe either take the win and the time bonus or at least what they achieved which was to keep him in contention for the GC

  • Is Lord Wiggo winning this, guys?

  • Rob Hayles voice sends me to sleep..

Apart from the way he pronounces "Saur Sojasun" like some kung fu voicedub, he does have somewhat soporific tones. And Porter's surely due his jotters..

  • And Porter's surely due his jotters..

Just to clarify, a Scottish euphemism for getting the boot. I used to work at a soup factory situated at the bottom of a small hill. Those fired would be sent "up the brae" rather than "doon the road" as most Northern Scottish-based employers cutting staff tended to say.

That would make sense. Hayles said words to the effect of "Wiggins is off the front, I think". But who can blame him – coverage of the finish was almost of Olympic standard.

    :)

Ha, dst's gone and done an urban dictionary entry.

  • haha, c'mon now y'all get your plappermouthing mugs & shirts while they're hot

Totally agree. OK the coverage is a little under par but still it's cycling on the tele. That's a good thing. My wife got quite into watching the tour and Vuelta with me but is struggling with the ToB. Can't blame her.

And Rob Hayles' voice seems to be sending him to sleep too. Not exactly Mr Charisma is he?!

  • Wiggo out with a stomach bug*

    *can't be arsed

    Cav'll be next!

  • Wiggo was actually riding backwards along the course apparantly looking for Cav yesterday....

  • Yeah i think Wiggos had enough of Cav and Cav enough of Wiggo.
Teams split with 2 big personalities.

  • Kristian House is having an awesome ToB, holding on to the KoM jersey, and even a podium place at blackpool

he's the one on the right

  • I'm glad it's not Muslim Shed who's doing so well.

  • Wiggo leading the Peloton up Oakamoor and Cav following shortly after

  • Spotted Matt Rowe on telly andI'm pretty sure they called him "Caerphilly boxing champ" rather than "Luke Rowe's brother who rides Premier Calendar races for Metaltek-Scott".

    Fail.

  • Bunch riding out from Brixton to Reigate tomorrow morning. Come join!

  • Today's race through the sketchy Devon lanes has been amazing. Attack after attack.

  • Been some great racing the last few days, and I think the parcours has been great, very challenging, quite one-day classics-esque. Nice that the sun has made a late flurry, but equally some of the stages when the roads were flooded were ace too. Good to see JTL racing so well, he climbs like Contador.

And I don't mean he's been eating dodgy steak, but up out the saddle his style is very similar.

On the other hand Sky have made a right pigs ear of it.

And fantastic, fantastic crowds. Been out to see it myself twice, but the crowds in Caerphilly and the ones today were close to GT levels. Brilliant to see the fans there, and good to see Sanchez and Basso enjoying the race

  • Lovely day in Devon yesterday. I watched them go up the hill from Dartmeet and then decided to follow for the rest of the route, but I didn't see them again... It was a pleasant ride down to the coast from Dartmoor though. I didn't manage the last 10km to the finish and turned off back to family headquarters, saving myself the embarrassment of rolling in nearly 3 hours after the main contenders.
