This threads a bit old but figured it was the best place for the question...
I need some GOOD new brake pads for all round riding on Alu Rims. I came off a couple of weeks ago at 65kph, it was raining and although I know it was largely rider error (too fast) I genuinely felt like my brakes had no traction in the wet - I was using cheap generic pads. Since then the only time I've felt confident going over about 45kph is when I've been on my carbon wheels with Swisstop Yellows. Obviously I don't want to be using my race wheels year round, and this is my training bike so I don't want to faff changing pads around the whole time so I need some good pads that will work on Alu rims in all weather conditions.
Swisstop greens seem to be the top option but they are expensive - I'm happy to pay but is this the best option? Are there pads that are (a) better all round quality and (b) better value?
