it's generally a festival in gaoile and the market is on for 3 or 4 days on the weekend, the ride itself is open from 5.30am every 15 minutes up until 10.30 - you choose which start to take and you just turn up at the top of the street and queue with a coffee and join the next mass start - it you are doing the full 205km then i would certainly reccomend starting at 5.30. you will need another layer because it's freezing and lights because it's pitch black though
the night before they put on a carbo loading party in the big food marquee but it's not really worth bothering with, we usually have the 'l'eroica' menu at the cafe in the square and get to bed early. on race day there is a big tent for a free feed after the ride too
our group this year (just 4 of us) are arriving on friday afternoon and staying right in the town, the market will be set up by then and pretty much stays open while it's daylight.
