  • I know, which is why I was surprised he said he'd never seen it before.

They're bullshitting or the guy is replying according to personal experience. It's a known flaw but it looks like they're trying to hide it so that they can keep flogging their cheap frames.

  • Heard nothing from them since last Wednesday. Just sent a prod via email. Fingers crossed.

  • Just give them a call.

  • or start a thread/PM over on MTBR.

  • how XL is the XL pompino? anyone around the 6'5" mark got a build pic?

6'3" and I ride the XL with a 110mm stem and drops. Sometimes think about getting a 120mm stem, but it is comfortable enough for riding round town.

  • My new SSCX in a homemade SUPER excellent Stars&Stripes/Union Jack/Tri Couleur paint.

    On-One Pompino sz. small
Alpina full carbon fork - SUPER light!
    Thomson stem/post
    Chris King
Zipp SC SL bars w. Lizard Skin
    Planet-X brakes
    On-One track wheels
    Challenge tyres
    Sram Red cranks
    Sram brake levers
    Specialized Romin
    42-18

    A bit over 8kg

In a bit of a money need so will probably sell it. Let me know if intrested.

  • looks really, good, further validating my desire for a CX bike

  • I like that. similar to mine, but now you've got me thinking about a paintjob.

  • I've been riding my new pomp around for less then two weeks and already have my paintjob planned.

  • ^ Those Alpina forks with canti mounts look the business. Can I ask where you got them from and how much?

  • Yikes - those Alpinas are expensive!

The Kinesis alternative is a good one - thanks for the link. Gives a weight saving of over 700g against the standard pomp fork. Sorely tempted.

  • Got the Alpina fork for a bargain at Dolan's ebay store.

PM me if anybody is intrested in the bike.

  • Sweet!

    HI Steve

Please return the frame to us so that we can replace this under warranty for you.

When returning the frame please can you do so with our on-line returns form.

When we have received back your item i will let you know straight away

    Kind regards

  • Do they cover postage? What about the cost of replacing the headset and stuff?

  • So, I'm being offered a replacement frame, which will be a 2012 version. They currently only have the blue in medium and so they are offering to sell me a matching fork for £20 and arrange collection etc.

Sounds reasonable to me. Only problem is that I'm out of the country as of Saturday and I doubt very much that I'll have time to get this sorted before I go :/

  • Sounds reasonable enough. 2012 Pomp forks are around £40 on the On-One website. Good luck getting things sorted in time...

  • How long does On-One's warranty extend?

  • 2 year warranty on frames, not sure on the rest of their products.

  • I'd like a Pompino as a commuting, riser barred, mud guard wielding all rounder.

Fortunately I have most parts required for the build from a box of tricks in my garage. I have a set of 700c wheels from a geared cyclocross bike. Would I be able to use these as a ss system on a Pompino, and if so, what do I need to do it ?

    Cheers

  • The spacing would be an issue, should really use a 120mm hub.

  • Steve are you up in Birmingham?

  • Probably just a SS kit, with spacers and a chain tensioner. Surly make a good kit (singulator?) As A&P says, might have a problem with spacing on that hub as it'll likely be 135mm (pomp is approx 120/122.5mm)

  • Steve are you up in Birmingham?

    Nearly, I'm in Coventry.

  • Won't need a tensioner, you could cold set the frame to take the larger hub, but you'd be better off getting a different wheel.
