i saw something a while ago which I've found quite helpful; Starting at your toes and working up clench and hold your muscle groups for 20 seconds (making sure to count in your head), so toes, feet, calves etc.
the point being that by the time you've reached the top you're physically relaxed and mentally distracted from the concentration .
