Tibbs has a movie this year about burritos. It's playing saturday the 6th at 7pm and 9pm.

    Press release as follows:

The BFF is proud to be celebrating its 9th year in the UK, home of the current cycling champions of the world. With British cyclists’ continued success at the highest level inspiring a nation to get on their bikes, it's the perfect opportunity for everyone to embrace cycling as a sport and lifestyle choice.

Feature film highlights include the World Premiere of LINE OF SIGHT (Dir. Benny Zenga) by legendary cycling cinematographer Lucas Brunelle, and an incredible showcase of two of the best road cycling films from Ireland, including the UK premiere of RAS TAILTEANN MEN OF THE RAS (Dir. Sean O Cualain), which is a documentary telling the story of one of Ireland's greatest sporting institutions: the Rás Tailteann cycling race. Martin Dwan’s feature, SHAY ELLIOT: CYCLE OF BETRAYAL, meanwhile, is about Ireland’s first professional cyclist and the incredible events surrounding his career and life.

BFF12 also showcases fabulous and emotive short films from around the world, including: CANDY RIDES (Dir. Jason Giampietro), exploring our love of bikes and how it fits with love itself; BOY (Dir. Justin Chadwick), about love and loss, starring respected British actor Timothy Spall;and the inspirational SISTER SESSION (Dir. Helen Habakuk, Doris Taaker, & Brett Astrid Vomma), documenting the first time women are allowed to compete at a particular major BMX event.

The Festival will also play host to a diverse program of events, including a Rollapaluza Roller Race (Sunday October 7th, Hoxton Bar and Grill, 8PM) the annual Bike Polo Tournament, A BMX jam (October 6th) hosted by Albion BMX mag, and a cycling Symposium, presented in collaboration with Transport for London, delving into new territory with debates, discussions and presentations towards the future of cycling in London on the 12th of October. The panel will be presented by David Harmon, the go to voice of road cycling, as a long stating Eurosport commentator and expert in all things cycling. Speakers will include Ben Plowden (Mayor’s Office) David Dansky (Cycle Training) and David Kitchen (Founder of the LFGSS bike forum)

The BFF is growing hand in hand with the unprecedented boom in cycling internationally. From its roots in New York, the BFF is now a multi-faceted, global event that will travel to over 25 cities this year, from London to Tokyo, Moscow to Mexico City. It was created in 2001 to encourage global participation and awareness of cycling and to help promote cycling across all forms. The festival celebrates the bicycle by joining many creative communities, including fashion, music and art, with the bicycling communities – road cycling, mountain biking, fixed gear, BMX, cyclocross – in a shared passion.

  • Sounds good Laura!

  • Great stuff laura
Looking forward to it as ever.

  • Tibbs has a movie this year about burritos.

Oh, it's about more than burritos. It's about a man's quest, about overcoming against all odds, about people coming together under one common cause. There's a love interest in it too and I think someone gets shanked towards the end too.

  • Wicked. Looking forward to it as always...

  • Hurrah! One of my favourite weekends of last year. Always lifts the gloom of the end of summer I reckon!

Forum outing for one of the showings of burrito film? The Shay Elliot film looks pretty interesting too.

  • Great!

Is this true, though, in the blurb to one of the films?
" Georgena Terry, founder of Terry bicycles, revolutionized the women’s biking industry by creating a bike frame specific to a woman’s body."

Did she really? There have been women's frames for as long as there have been bicycles. If we're talking about actually changing the geometry and so forth, then Alex Moulton introduced the Moulton Mini back in the 60s as a women's version of the full-size. Georgeana might be a big name in women's frames, but she's hardly the first.

  • Looking forward to this.

  • Forum outing for one of the showings of burrito film?

Definitely, I reckon the 9pm one. Stuff ourselves full of beer and burrito beforehand then dash to the Barbican afterward, followed by the after party, then the after after party (@Hootananny for more burritos?)

  • afterparty that night is at slaughtered lamb so super easy to get to from barbican.

Tickets go on sale September 5th. There is a group ticket price which is cheaper, but would have to be put through on one card if you guys wanted to do that, I can help arrange

  • Who's putting the Polo tourney together....?

  • Yay!

  • Who's DJing at the slaughtered lamb? We the people demand dancehall!

Ooh - any idea how big the group needs to be - I'm happy to sort this out if people want? I'm guessing tix in the region of £10? Any ideas what else is on that billing?
