As has been said above in various ways I like that the unregimented nature of the classifieds seems to produce a more honest way of making transactions based on sellers reputation and the quality of their thread (which I've found often reflects the service you get in terms of postage and delivery time). Also, each person is able to sell their 'type' of item without direct comparison to the next. After a while you get to know who sells vintage parts of low value and who sells nearly new expensive wheelsets etc. so can search for threads started by that person. It feels a bit like an online cycle jumble and you have to wander round the tables and seek out what you want/like. If you classify the classifieds a lot of the community atmosphere will be lost i reckon and it might even cause the sellers to get less for their items as they will be in closer competition with the next seller based mainly on price
