I use my iPad too much to lend it out for a week - I can't believe how much I use it to be honest, its always on and is handy to carry around and much more user friendly for internet use (IMO) in most cases.
Can't you just drag her down to the Apple shop for a play?
My 74 year old father is looking at getting an iPad after he played with mine this weekend, he liked using the touch screen to play games and the fact that he didn't need to trot upstairs to his desk bound PC any time he wanted to access the net.
