While overjoyed with the cadet bag, I bought the new version of the quick release bagman as the centrepull gubbin was rubbing and making a hole. Unfortunately, the one of the quick release bits have fallen apart in less than a fortnight, and now I'm temporarily using a pen lid to push the securing bit of metal to get the bag on and off. Sent an e-mail off to Carradice but can't entirely see how I could fit a replacement without a whole new support. I was disappoint.

  • About to go down and check mine. Really rooting for anyone but Sue. Sorry Sue.

    I felt the same, however:

Looking at support for my Pendle, it wobbles too much v.useful (and entertaining) thread - thanks all.

I have this exact problem. 2 Bagman quick releases have lost their slider handles on me now. Currently I'm wondering how to repair this one. They're bloody expensive to break so easily! No name on my longflap incidentally. It's quite old.

those little pins are roll pins, easy to get from a car spares shop

A good garage or workshop will have a box of them under the counter all sorts of different sizes, and they should cost pennies
I think they are 3 mm. dia. having a look at mine I reckon it should be easy to tap the hole and put a little screw in place, although I bet Carradice will send you some new pins for nowt if you ask them. Mine are nice and tight, so no worries for me
(they will now both fall out)

  • I rang up Carradice after not getting an e-mail response and they sent replacement roll pin, spring and metal 'bolt' thingy the next day.

  • i don't have a caradice but thsi is what lists were made for

  • well get one and let us know who made it, that is what this list is for

  • Cheers for that Adroit. That right there is some useful info! Check your rep bank.

I've got a beautiful Nelson long flap in green with honey straps. It's utterly brilliant. Thanks janet.

  • Looking into getting a saddlebag, whats the deal with attaching it to be bike, is there a quick release type option? and what model/size should i be looking at to fit a small lunchbox, a couple of tools, and a tshirt? more space the better really but dont want something overly large

  • I have this qr system...

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/carradice-sqr-saddle-bag-uplift-system/

It works well but does not support the bag so droop is a problem if your bag is under-filled.

  • rogan - my advice is to always try and get the longflap version.

  • So looking at the nelson longflap, if i want a QR, what else do i need to buy?

  • Stuff to put in the bag.

  • an audax beard

  • On a more serious note check the "frame" of the SQR, as the one I bought is seriously bent. Actually the bag itself had a bit of a manufacture issue too. Maybe it was Friday afternoon when they made it.

Christine's diligent work on my Nelson has seen it serving me impecably for 2+ years of all weather commuting. Thanks.

Just the QR uplift thingy middleofnowhere posted the link to.

I have this exact combination and it's amazing. You can fit so much stuff in there (underfill is rarely a problem for me...).

I have an SQR Tour, made by Andrea.

The placement of the buckles on the external pockets means you can't pull the flaps tight enough to stop smaller items from falling out, but apart from that I like it.
