    Same goes for Eingang's friend. But yes it's absolutely a matter of taste.

    Distance is definitely a factor as well though. I'm guessing if you were doing rides over a century you might be forced to rethink your gearing.

    Possibly. I've never really tested it. I'm pretty sure of my bodies preferance for slow heavy efforts, over fast light ones, though. As I understand it, it largely down to muscle type. Its certainly getting exagerated as I age.

    FTR I spin 56 GI on the SS 29er, and when I have to ride on the road for long stints. I find it hard work.
