AFAIK the strut has a square section and a round section; they will still use needle bearings but the unit will be sealed with a bushing. Means they won't need a shock boot to keep out the gunk at, I assume, the cost of a bit more stiction.

I really want one for my F5.

TBH I was reading this, this very morning. But mainly just looking at the pretty bikes.

You can see the lefty has a guard instead of the usual boot. Much like a Maverick fork of yonder.
