Did 3 weeks of experimenting with carb timing. I still ate plenty of calories, just avoided carbs in the daytime and only had them between training and bedtime.
I dropped from 77.5kg to 72.5kg - loss of 5kg. A Dexa scan verfied that this was ALL fat loss. I actually managed a tiny muscle increase.
The strange thing is, I could not visually see a change at all. I took before and after pictures and to my eyes I looked exactly the same. I ran a few times during the period, and in a submaximal cycle based fitness test I made an improvement.
The process was horrible though, I hated going without carbs all day.
have you read john kiefer's carb nite?
good read.
im following a protocol very similiar to this ^^^
no carbs until post workout, then bring on the tortilla wraps, dohnuts, ice cream, biscuits etc.
i eat pretty much whatever i want at night, but always fast until lunchtime, and only have green veg and protein for lunch.
drinking plenty of water is also really important.
ive consistantly lost fat, while gaining strength - for the last 3 months, simply by doing this.
i also go to the best gym ever. its called the functional strength institute.
tyre flipping, prowlers, sleds, monkey bars, ropes, sledgehammers.
more of a playground than a gym. loving it.
best advice for fast weight loss - cut the carbs in the morning!
intermitant fasting is super effective, but alternate day fasting isent great if you have muscle building goals. apparently a 14 hour fast is optimal. personally i wouldnt want to go without food for a day. too extreme.
